WINEMAKER'S NOTES

'Les Vignes Des Enfants' 2019 is a 100% Petite Sirah from Valvignères, Ardèche. The grapes were fully destemmed and macerated for 10 days in a fibre cuve, followed by a 3-day pressing. The fermenting juice was aged in barriques, where it continued to ferment through winter and remained for 4 years until bottling in August 2023. The wine saw minimal intervention, with only one topping up after two years, allowing the natural character of the terroir to shine through.

STORY

Anders Frederik Steen and Anne Bruun Blauert craft their wines with a simple philosophy: “grapes and only grapes.” They started winemaking in 2013 after Anders, previously a chef and sommelier in Denmark, began working alongside Jura winemaker Jean-Marc Brignot. Now based in Valvignères in the Ardèche, their vineyards thrive on clay and limestone soils and have been organically farmed for decades. Their approach is free and creative, treating winemaking like cooking, where each year’s grapes dictate the process, yielding unique and thought-provoking wines.
