WINEMAKER'S NOTES

Jakot, crafted from 100% Friulano grapes, is a biodynamic orange wine matured without added sulphur, showcasing Saša Radikon's expertise in skin-contact vinification. This wine, named creatively due to regulatory changes prohibiting the use of "Tocai," undergoes a meticulous process: hand-harvested grapes are macerated on skins for 2-4 months in oak, followed by co-fermentation with indigenous yeasts, and aged in large oak casks for 36 months before an additional 18-month bottle maturation.

STORY

In the serene village of Oslavje, bordering Slovenia, Radikon stands as a testament to innovative skin-contact winemaking, a tradition nurtured by the Radikon family for over 30 years. Stanko Radikon's revival of ancestral techniques, particularly long skin maceration, highlighted the unique qualities of local grapes, earning global recognition for Radikon wines. Today, Saša Radikon continues this legacy, blending organic farming and minimal intervention across 18 hectares to produce wines that are as complex as they are expressive. With a focus on sustainability and a pioneering approach to wine production and aging, Radikon remains a symbol of excellence in the realm of natural wines, embodying the essence of its Friulian terroir.
