WINEMAKER'S NOTES

Frei.Körper.Kultur Weiss is a vibrant blend crafted in Rheinhessen from an eclectic mix including Scheurebe, Weißburgunder, Huxelrebe, Grauburgunder, and Ortega, grown biodynamically on 16 hectares of limestone, sandstone, and clay soils. This white wine undergoes a three-week maceration process, employing whole cluster fermentation and indigenous yeasts in fiberglass, then aged in the same material without fining or filtration, and minimal added sulfur (15 mg/L).

STORY

Bianka and Daniel Schmitt are at the forefront of Rheinhessen's biodynamic wine movement, leading their 16-hectare DB Schmitt winery to produce distinctive wines with minimal intervention. Their estate, steeped in over 230 years of family history, showcases the unique terroir of Frauenberg and Goldberg through Demeter-certified practices. The Schmitts exemplify the new wave of German winemaking, combining tradition with innovative techniques to highlight the region's diverse climatic and soil conditions.
