WINEMAKER'S NOTES
The Saboteur 2023 White Blend by Luddite Wines is a meticulously crafted wine, featuring 77% Chenin Blanc, 13% Blanc Fumé, and 10% Viognier. This vintage sourced fruit from Standford, maintaining its roots in the Cape South Coast region. Despite a challenging rainy harvest, early picking ensured freshness and acidity. The Chenin and Viognier underwent 12 days of skin contact for added tannin and texture, with all components spending 7 months in old French oak barrels. The result is a well-structured, refreshingly fruity white wine designed with food and drinkability in mind.

Luddite Wines, founded by Niels and Penny Verburg in 1999, is a family-owned winery located on the Eastern slopes of the Houw Hoek Mountains in South Africa. Committed to traditional methods, they avoid mechanization and emphasize minimal interference to maintain maximum integrity in their wines. They produce exceptional Chenin Blanc and the renowned Saboteur blends, with their daughter Alice bringing a fresh perspective to the team.
