WINEMAKER'S NOTES

This Fleurie 2021 is crafted from Gamay grapes sourced from organic-certified Château de Poncié in Fleurie, Beaujolais. The vines, averaging 20-25 years old, grow on granite and sandy soils and are farmed biodynamically. The wine undergoes a brief whole-cluster fermentation in cuve, followed by 12 months of ageing in barrel to complete sugar fermentation. Malolactic conversion occurs naturally at the end of the process, resulting in a pure and expressive wine that reflects its terroir.

STORY

Domaine Petit-Roy located in Chorey-les-Beaune, Burgundy, Domaine Petit-Roy was founded in 2017 by Seiichi Saito, a Japanese expat with Chinese origins. With experience at top domaines like Mugnier, Leflaive, Rousseau, and Simon Bize, Seiichi farms 2.1 hectares of regional vineyards biodynamically, complemented by purchased fruit from like-minded growers. In the cellar, he favours whole-cluster fermentations, gentle extraction, and avoids new oak, maintaining brightness and precision in his wines. Bottled without filtration, with minimal or no added SO2, his wines offer vibrant energy, pure fruit, and immediate enjoyment—a true reflection of Seiichi’s expertise and dedication.
